Barbara was taught by her father (Stanley Pryor, a former member of the New York State Assembly)  to give back to her community. She is a member of the Local Chamber of Commerce,  the Queens Chamber of Commerce and is an active participant in the Long Island Business Development Group. She is a member of the Local Chamber of Commerce and the Queens Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Maspeth Town Hall and Maspeth Kiwanis Club
